Infertility Management

Dr Yoong has a particular interest in the management of infertility. He has completed his Masters of Reproductive Medicine and would love to help you if you have a problem falling pregnant.

Initial visits with Ray can be done at his rooms at Ashford Medical Centre.

Fertility management is broken down into several main options.

Ovulation induction is for individuals who have ovulation problems – if your periods are longer than 35 days in length, you may have an issue with ovulation. There are solutions for this without resorting to IVF.

Another issue is male factor infertility– poor sperm count and or function. This could be overcome with a procedure called IUI (Intrauterine insemination) or with IVF.

And the final option for treatment is IVF (In-vitro fertilisation) – in this process, eggs are removed from the female partner and combined with the sperm from the male partner to create embryos. These embryos are then returned to your uterus (womb) around day 4-5 after egg collection.

Occasionally, the solution may be completely different – sometime surgery is required before commencing fertility treatment. For this – Dr Yoong would usually recommend either a laparoscopic or robotic assisted laparoscopic procedure.

As it is for many aspects of medicine – one size does not fit all. Each person/couple have different needs and that is where Dr Yoong comes in – he is able to tailor the right solution for your needs.

It is important that both partners attend the appointment. You will need two referrals – one for yourself and the other for your partner.
